Employee Safety and Occupational Health

We believe that every employee has a right to a safe and healthy workplace and are committed to keeping our 20,550 employees worldwide informed about health and safety standards, policies and local legal requirements. We host site level employee health and safety (EHS) dedicated activities and, in 2020, completed 1,300 EHS-focused workplace inspections of our manufacturing facilities.

Many of our sites have been designated as a Highly Protected Risk (HPR) site. This designation is awarded by FM Global in recognition of extraordinary leadership and commitment by all stakeholders in the facility to ensure health and safety measures have been implemented and managed proactively.

Learning and Development

Our global learning and development programs are created to attract, develop and retain employees. We also encourage employees to manage their careers, expand their knowledge and skills, and foster personal growth by engaging in new projects and initiatives or taking on new roles and responsibilities. Across all of our global teams, we logged approximately 2,250,000 training hours and provided more than 300 internship positions in 2021.

Employee Wellness

The health and wellness of our employees is a crucial element of our sustainability strategy, and we are committed to providing a healthy, supportive and safe workplace.  

Employees at each site actively contribute to Celestica’s wellness programs, offering different initiatives each year including wellness policies to effect positive change, annual employee health checks, and medical centres for employees. Other noteworthy events include: 

  • Campaigns that encourage and support employees to quit smoking
  • Programs that encourages employees to use sustainable transportation such as cycling or walking
  • Education weeks focused on resources to support wellbeing
