DS4100 Introduction

The DS4100 Delivers Power and Efficiency

The rapid growth of data-intensive applications, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), has fueled the demand for high-density, high-performance data center switches. In response to this demand, Celestica has developed a game-changing portfolio of 800G switches, designed to deliver unprecedented bandwidth and port density, the ideal foundation for large scalable data centers.

The latest addition to our 800G offering is the new DS4100, a powerful top-of-rack switch in a compact 1U form factor. With 16 ports, the DS4100 switch delivers the high performance required for demanding applications like AI/ML and is powerful enough to act as an efficient leaf/spine switch with all the redundancy required for modern data centers. With its higher power efficiency and lower per-port price point, the DS4100 could drive the adoption of 800G switches to a broader range of market segments.

DS4100 ‘101’ - The Performance Basics

The DS4100 is based on the Broadcom TH4-12.8T switch chipset, offering 12.8Tbps non-blocking switching capacity. Within its compact 1U form factor, the DS4100 is equipped with the 112G SerDes (128 x 100G PAM4) for both simplicity and power efficiency. And, since it will help run enterprise and mission-critical apps, maximum up-time comes standard, with its hot-swappable power supplies and redundant fans.

Flexibility is Key

The DS4100 supports multi-speeds from 100GbE to 400GbE, allowing maximum flexibility depending on the attached devices on the 800G fabric solution such as Celestica’s DS4101 and DS5000 platforms. DS4100 supports current and future network requirements through a modular architecture, including a COM-E modular x86-based control plane, a precise timing option and a modular BMC Management plane for easier integration of automation tools familiar to server administrators.

As with our entire line of Networking products, Celestica supports SONiC (Software for Open Networking in the Cloud) as a production-hardened Network Operating System (NOS) that offers teams the flexibility to create the network solutions they need while leveraging the collective strength of a large ecosystem and community. An ONIE installer is also provided to support third-party network operating systems.

Enabled by its flexibility combined with high bandwidth and redundant components, the DS4100 is ideal for several usage models, including:

  • AI/ML and Big Data Analytics
  • Hyperscale Data Centers and Cloud Computing
  • High-Performance Computing (HPC)
  • Network Backbone (800GbE Data Center Leaf / Spine)

Showcasing Cutting-edge Advancements in Open Hardware

Experts from Celestica will be on hand at the annual OCP (Open Compute Project) Summit in San Jose, California, October 15-17th.  Join us at booth #A16 where we will be showcasing the DS4100 along with our other networking and storage solutions. Come by the booth or visit our OCP landing page to learn more and schedule a meeting with the Celestica team.
