Our global teams include industry-leading experts in quality, engineering and manufacturing, and they work alongside a diverse range of healthcare customers to achieve strategic goals and market differentiation. We’re proud of what we do and it shows. And while all our achievements in the healthcare space are rooted in our industry recognized capabilities and know-how, it’s not just what we do that differentiates us, it’s why we do it.
We asked a few members of the Celestica HealthTech team to share why they are passionate about working in HealthTech, and the career accomplishments they are most proud of.
Jennifer McNary
Director, SCM Solutions, ATS
HealthTech is innovative and rewarding and helps to improve people’s lives. I am passionate about helping others with life-changing services and products that help people live healthier, happier lives with greater ease and independence. My proudest accomplishments at Celestica have been building strong relationships with my colleagues and our valued HealthTech customers, and successfully applying 25 years of experience in materials management, market intelligence and supply chain solutions to support globalization and product complexity, while mitigating risk and applying innovative best practices.
Kevin Dempsey
Sales Director, HealthTech
My passion for HealthTech is rooted in its importance in peoples’ lives – something you realize when a loved one needs medical care. In that moment, the criticality of the medical staff, devices and medicines becomes very clear. It’s rewarding and exciting to be a part of the solution – leveraging technology to drive the best possible patient outcomes.
My proudest accomplishment at Celestica was being a part of a team that delivered more than 30% capacity improvement from an automated line that was considered end-of-life. This allowed our customer to consolidate operations into Celestica and realize significant cost savings.
Alex Matthews
Director of Business Development, HealthTech
We have all been personally affected by a close family member or friend with health challenges – myself included. These experiences have made me very passionate about partnering with leading-edge HealthTech OEMs to drive enhanced patient outcomes. I’m especially inspired to innovate with my customers to deliver better healthcare technologies and improve access to impoverished areas of the world.
During my time at Celestica, I am proud to have had the opportunity to work with some of the top medical device companies in the world.
Daniel Bakosch
Sales Director, HealthTech
I used to work with medical devices as an emergency medical technician. Having that DNA and experience, I realize just how much patients and practitioners rely on the work of medical device OEMs and their partners. I like that the dynamic of the HealthTech industry is different compared to working with the consumer or industrial sector. Gaining know-how on commercial aspects and new technologies and developing a keen interest in medical procedures are key to success in the healthcare space.
I am proud to work with a diverse group of HealthTech OEMs on developing groundbreaking medical devices. Knowing how these products will be used to enhance quality of life for people everywhere makes me proud of what I do.
Kevin McFarlin
Director, Design Engineering
Throughout my career in electronics manufacturing, I’ve had many opportunities to impact the innovative solutions of leading brands – yet nothing compares to delivering technology solutions that directly impact the quality of life and health of others. Knowing the devices we design, develop and deliver drive better patient outcomes motivates me, and our entire team, to work toward a common goal, passion and purpose – bringing our best selves to work, every day.
Mike Bradley
Sales Director, HealthTech
Although I’ve spent 20 years developing technology for the healthcare market, I still feel exhilarated knowing that our efforts benefit the lives and health of our communities, families and friends. I’ve been part of some incredible teams bringing cutting-edge instrumentation to market, and I’ve had the opportunity to see the direct impact of these products on patients and medical professionals.
Walking into hospitals and labs knowing that the equipment used to diagnose and treat my loved ones has been manufactured and tested to the highest standards puts my mind at ease, even during difficult times. It has been an honor to work with the dedicated professionals at Celestica. I’ve never seen a more customer focused team with such a depth and breadth of knowledge, experience and commitment.
Brendan O’Sullivan
Sales Director, HealthTech
My passion for HealthTech is personal. My mother has been a diabetic for 55 years. I lost a brother at 37 to bowel cancer. The products and devices we make help to treat and heal the people we care about. This was never more true than when we helped Medtronic to scale their PB980 ventilator during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. That product helped to save lives.
Over the past 20 years with Celestica, I have worked across all of the company’s market segments, leading business development activities across Europe, Asia and North America. One of the stand-out accomplishments was ramping a healthcare program in Galway, Ireland. As an Irish citizen, this was particularly motivating as the operation has the potential to be a local legacy that runs for decades.
James Jonakin
Sales Director, HealthTech
When I was finishing up my Mechanical Engineering degree, my mother passed away from cancer. I got into the HealthTech space to honor her and have spent 95% of my career supporting HealthTech OEMs to drive advances in healthcare that improve the human condition. I am passionate about helping others and directly impacting the technologies professionals use to help treat people. My hope is that some day, these innovations will lead to better and more effective cancer treatments.
If I had to pick a more specific accomplishment at Celestica, however, it would be my direct involvement in the fight against COVID-19. Beginning in March 2020, I was able to make an immediate impact by helping our partners to quickly ramp critical products – such as the ventilators, testers, diagnostics equipment that kept people alive and helped researchers to understand more about the disease.
Delivering Healthcare Solutions That Matter
Over the past decade we have significantly enhanced our ability to solve complex challenges in the healthcare space – evolving from a PCBA manufacturer to a trusted partner delivering full product lifecycle solutions. Our ability to manage complexity was tested at the height of the pandemic, when despite facing their own challenges and limitations, our team members brought together all of their experience, talent, energy and creativity to speed OEMs’ medical devices to the front lines of COVID-19 care.
“The work we do in the HealthTech team goes well beyond driving innovation, efficiency and productivity. It’s about embracing our best personal and professional selves to make a significant difference in the lives of others – working alongside our customers to make the world a safer, healthier place for everyone.”
Kevin Walsh, Vice President, HealthTech
